Compress Image to 100 KB

Aim for a maximum of 100 KB for small form attachments or compact profile images. The size is preselected; reaching it depends on your image and the settings you allow.

The target is preselected. Start with the original dimensions; allow smaller dimensions if the byte limit matters more than image resolution. 1 KB = 1,000 bytes; 1 MB = 1,000 KB.

Formats are never changed silently. Unsupported browser encoders show an error.

A maximum size to attempt, not an exact-size guarantee.

Automatic uses 82% quality. Lower quality generally saves more bytes but can introduce artefacts. PNG ignores this setting.

Pixels. Images are never enlarged. Resizing changes image detail, including for PNG.

The search may lower JPG/WebP quality to this limit, capped by your selected quality.

Up to five additional size reductions. Leave off to preserve the selected dimensions.

Files stay in this tab until you clear them or leave. Re-encoded JPG/WebP and resized images may lose metadata and change colour rendering. Lossless PNG keeps colour and orientation chunks; original fallbacks retain their metadata. Always check the downloaded image before sharing it.

How to use Compress Image to 100 KB

  1. Select or drop JPG, PNG or WebP images into the tool. File content is checked before processing.
  2. Check the preselected 100 KB target, quality floor and resizing permission.
  3. Press Compress images. Each file is processed in a background worker.
  4. Review the actual sizes, dimensions and comparison previews. Open the download to inspect full detail.
  5. Download each result or prepare a ZIP of completed images. Keep your originals until you are satisfied.

Work within a 100 KB file-size limit

A 100 KB limit is restrictive for detailed photographs. Begin with quality reduction, then permit smaller dimensions if necessary. Fine text in screenshots may need a different approach: preserve PNG and accept reduced dimensions only if the text stays readable.

Control the trade-off between detail and bytes

The minimum quality starts at 25%. Raise it to protect detail, or lower it deliberately if the byte limit is more important.

How the target search works

The tool measures encoded bytes after each attempt. It searches JPG/WebP quality within your selected range, then tries smaller dimensions only if allowed. PNG remains lossless at each chosen resolution and does not use the quality slider. The search is bounded; if it cannot meet the limit, it returns the smallest tested result with an honest warning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can every image reach 100 KB?

No. Resolution, image detail, format and permitted quality all affect the final size. A target miss is clearly labelled; try allowing smaller dimensions or choose another supported output format.

Does 100 KB mean an exact size?

No. The goal is at or below the stated byte limit. Files are never padded to match an exact size. The result shows the actual output size.

Will the tool change my format or dimensions automatically?

The original format is preserved unless you select another format. Target-driven resizing is off by default and requires your permission. Explicit resize-to-fit settings also preserve the aspect ratio.
